Sal has always been the kind of person who wants to understand how things work — not in the abstract, but in the “let me poke at this until it makes sense” way. He earned a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Virginia Tech, with minors in Mathematics and Computer Science, and an M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Tech. That blend of hardware, software, and systems thinking shapes every project: curiosity, precision, and a willingness to experiment until the pieces fall into place.
By day, Sal is a patent attorney — a job that sounds formal until you realize it’s basically an excuse to talk with inventors and engineers about their wildest ideas. He spends his professional hours helping creators protect their innovations, and his off-hours building things of his own with the same problem-solving instinct.
BezosWorx is where the off-hours version of that lives. Sal is a solutions guy: hand him a problem — a product that won’t quite work, a process that’s eating your week, a “can this even be done?” — and he’ll want to understand it, pull it apart, and find the path through. Sometimes that ends at a whiteboard. Sometimes it ends with a part, a script, or an introduction to the right person. Whether you’ve got a napkin sketch, a half-formed idea, or a project that needs a technical sounding board, Sal is someone you can talk it through with.
What BezosWorx is
A hobby, with a name on it. Sal has a day job — patent attorney at a firm in Washington — and BezosWorx is the evenings-and-weekends thing: the conversations with people trying to make something work, the workbench and the tools (yes, there are printers; they’re not the point), the side projects that get their own domain. It covers its own costs; that’s the extent of the business plan. It is not a law practice, doesn’t offer legal services, and doesn’t take legal work through this site. If you need a patent lawyer, Sal’s professional life is over here, and the two don’t mix.
What Sal gets out of it is the people. Interesting problems come attached to interesting people, and the best conversations here have turned into friendships, collaborators, and occasionally real work — on the right side of the line. If you’ve got one, bring it.
